Tips for the first date with someone from the dating site

You've finally arranged a real date. And now? Where should we go? What do I wear? What about safety? We'll tell you?

The first date is always an exciting time. We can well understand that you are nervous. After all, you are meeting a new person who you hope will become part of your life. Will you like this person? And vice versa?

Now it's time to keep your nerve and follow a few important tips for the first date.

Stay true to yourself

Of course you are excited. And you want to make as good an impression as possible. Nevertheless, try to stay true to yourself, don't exaggerate or tell fairy tales. Stay authentic. Under no circumstances should you forget:

In most cases, your date is also excited!

So take a relaxed approach, because the date will just happen. However, there are a few things you can take to heart as a "guideline".

A safe place is a must

A public place such as a café, restaurant or park is best for a first date. By now, everyone probably knows that the first date with an online date should not be held at home.

It's best to arrange to go for a short walk. If you both get on well, you can extend the walk. Maybe there's a nice café round the corner? If the date is a flop, you can end it quickly.

Be on time

Punctuality shows respect for the other person's time. Make an effort to be at the meeting point on time.

Wear what you like

Take care of your appearance, but try not to overdo it.

It's best to wear your favourite outfit! You'll feel comfortable in it and can be completely yourself.

Good dialogue

Ask open questions and listen attentively. Show interest in your date and let the conversation flow.

Avoid sensitive topics such as ex-partners, politics or religion in the first few conversations.

If the communication isn't right, there's a reason! If there is simply no natural conversation until the end of the date, you can assume that the other person has little interest in finding out about you. Unfortunately, most people are far too polite to end a date early due to a lack of interest. If you feel uncomfortable with this silence yourself, you can approach the person about it or end the date.

Set yourself an exit strategy

It's helpful to have an exit strategy in case the date doesn't go as expected. You can let a friend know that you will be in touch for sure or set a time for the date to end.

Stay realistic

Don't expect your first date to turn into instant love. Be realistic and simply enjoy the experience of getting to know each other.
